Let's be honest. Relationships between queer communities and communities of faith are often icy at best, and outright antagonistic at worst. So where does that leave queer people of faith?

This week, We Want the Airwaves' new East Coast correspondent Heidi Andrea Restrepo Rhodes interviewed transgender poet J Mase III to find out how being raised by a Baptist mom and a father in the Nation of Islam shaped his art and his activism. Highlights include:

Queer relationship is just like a relationship between a man and a woman. There's no need to differentiate these relationships for all of these are unique! I just don't get the point why there are still people who seem not to accept the fact that even gays and lesbians deserve to love and to be loved too! We are living in a modern society wherein judgmental people shouldn't be existing anymore. This interview is important to be read by a lot of people. I stand by you, guys!
